Older home? Test first
Popcorn ceilings installed before the mid-1980s can contain asbestos. If your home is that old, or you don't know when the ceiling went up, have a sample tested before any scraping. Testing is quick and inexpensive. If the test comes back positive, removal must be handled by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor. After that, we can repair, finish and paint the ceiling.

Popcorn ceiling questions
Is popcorn ceiling removal messy?
It can be, which is why we seal the room with plastic, cover the floors and clean up when we're done.
Does my popcorn ceiling have asbestos?
Only a test can tell. Ceilings installed before the mid-1980s are the ones to check. Get a sample tested before any removal.
Smooth or textured after removal?
Either one. A smooth ceiling looks the most modern. A light knockdown texture hides small imperfections. We'll go over both at the estimate.
Can you paint the walls at the same time?
Yes, and it's the most efficient way to do it. See interior painting.
