Stucco repairs we make
- Hairline and settlement cracks
- Cracks around windows and doors
- Holes left by old fixtures, dish mounts and wiring
- Chipped corners and impact damage
- Patches matched to the existing texture
- Prime and paint to match, or a full repaint
Most Central Florida homes are concrete block covered in stucco. It's tough, but it cracks as a house settles and with every swing from summer heat to winter cool. Small cracks let in water, and water behind stucco leads to bigger problems.

Repair first, then paint
Painting over cracked stucco only hides the cracks for a season. Our order of work:
- Pressure wash the walls
- Open up and fill cracks with flexible patching material
- Patch holes and damaged areas, then match the texture
- Prime the repairs
- Paint with quality exterior paint. Derwin's go-to is Sherwin-Williams, and we'll use another brand if you prefer.
Warning signs your stucco needs attention
- Cracks wider than a hairline, or cracks that keep growing
- Stair-step cracks following the block joints
- Rust-colored or dark stains running down from cracks
- Bubbling, peeling or chalky paint
- Hollow-sounding or crumbling patches when you tap the wall
- Gaps where stucco meets windows, doors or trim
- Musty smells or water stains on the inside of an exterior wall
Hairline cracks are common and usually cosmetic. The others can mean water is getting behind the stucco, so have them looked at sooner rather than later. Choosing paint? Read our guide to the best paint for Florida stucco.

Stucco repair questions
Are stucco cracks a problem?
Hairline cracks are common and usually cosmetic, but they let water in. Wider cracks, cracks that keep growing, or cracks with staining below them should be looked at soon.
Will the patch show?
We match the existing texture, then prime and paint. For the most even look, we often recommend painting the whole wall, or the whole house if the paint is due anyway.
Can you repair stucco and repaint at the same time?
Yes, and it's the best time to do it. See exterior painting.
Do you need my HOA or POA's approval?
Repairs that keep the same color usually don't, but repaints in a new color do. Check with your association before work starts.
