From the team at Ferguson's Painting & Cleaning, Orlando. Updated October 2026.

Orlando's painting seasons

  • October to May: the easiest stretchThe drier season brings lower humidity, fewer afternoon storms and milder heat. Paint dries more predictably, and crews can work longer days.
  • June to September: rainy seasonAfternoon thunderstorms arrive almost daily, humidity is high and walls get very hot in the sun. Exterior painting still happens. The day is just planned around the weather.

Because the drier months are popular, exterior painters' schedules fill up. If you want work done in spring, ask for an estimate early.

How painters work around summer weather

  • Start early and paint walls before the afternoon storms
  • Follow the shade, so paint doesn't go on sun-baked walls
  • Watch the radar, and don't open a can if rain is due before the paint can dry
  • Let walls dry after a storm before painting
  • Use the product's recommended temperature and humidity range

Other timing tips

  • HOA or POA approval: allow time for color approval before the start date
  • Selling soon? Paint before the listing photos
  • Vacation rentals: book exteriors in your slowest rental weeks
  • Repairs first: wood rot and stucco cracks get fixed before painting, so build them into the schedule

Timing questions

Can you paint a house in Orlando in summer?

Yes. Summer jobs are planned around the afternoon storms and the heat, usually with early starts and painting in the shade.

How long does an exterior repaint take?

It depends on the size of the house, how much repair it needs and the weather. Your written estimate includes a timeline.

Does interior painting depend on the season?

Not much. Interior work goes ahead year-round, which makes rainy afternoons a good time for it.
